RPM Friction Pro v2 Review: Why It's My #1 Paddle
Why the Friction Pro v2?
I've tested a lot of paddles over the past year. Some were great for power, others for control, and a few tried to do everything but ended up doing nothing well. The RPM Friction Pro v2 is the rare paddle that genuinely delivers on multiple fronts.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, you notice the build quality. The carbon fiber face has a textured grit that immediately tells you this paddle was designed for spin. The weight distribution feels balanced — not head-heavy, not handle-heavy — which gives you confidence on both drives and dinks.
On the Court
Spin is where this paddle truly shines. The surface texture generates RPMs that I haven't matched with any other paddle in this price range. Topspin drives bite into the court, and slice serves kick in ways that visibly frustrate opponents. Power is above average without being uncontrollable. You can rip drives from the baseline, but you're not going to send every ball sailing long. There's a sweet spot of about 3 inches that gives you consistent pop. Control at the kitchen line is solid. Dinks feel predictable, and resets are manageable even against hard-hit balls. The 16mm core thickness helps absorb pace without feeling mushy.Who Is This Paddle For?
- Players who prioritize spin in their game
- Intermediate to advanced players (3.5+ rating)
- Anyone looking for an all-around paddle that leans toward offense
The Verdict
The RPM Friction Pro v2 earns its spot as my primary paddle. It's not the cheapest option out there, but the combination of spin, power, and control makes it worth every penny. If you're serious about improving your game, this is the paddle I'd recommend trying first.
